Water Shutdown 2am, Tuesday, 7/3/2018
Posted By flanglois on July 2, 2018
ATTENTION
After Elleven’s power shutdown some residents on the upper floors 12-PH2 have been and are still experiencing hot water issues. Most are aware that a significant amount of air was introduced into the hot water piping system. As of last Friday all the building systems indicated most of the air had been purged. Unfortunately purging the air from the system did not completely resolve this issue.
Today we found a large valve that makes up part of the hot water return line has failed. This could have failed during the outage or shortly thereafter. We reached out to the original contractor who designed and installed the plumbing for this building to replace this valve and to evaluate the overall plumbing system.
As a result of this valve failure the system will be shut down at 2am Tuesday 7/3/2018, tomorrow morning to minimize impact on the community. The hot water storage tank will be isolated and drained, all hot water boilers will be shut off. We are anticipating having the water back on line by 6am Tuesday, tomorrow morning, 7/3/2018. Please do not use the water during this time or you will introduce more air into the system delaying the recovery process.
This notice is for all residents floors 4-PH2. Again, it is imperative that you do not use any water at the time of the shutdown 2am to 6am to avoid introducing air into the system resulting in an extended recovery period.
We apologize for this late notice. However, due to the high importance of this valve it is imperative that it is replaced immediately.
A follow up email will be sent out once the water service is returned and it is safe to use the water without introducing air into the system.
