1120 S. Grand Development – Updated Web Page/Link for Tree Removal Notice
Posted By kdub on September 15, 2016
Dear Luma Residents,
The Los Angeles Board of Public Works Commission, at its meeting on July 27th , approved a recommendation by the Los Angeles Urban Forestry Division to remove nine of the existing pine street trees along 12th Street and Grand Avenue. This decision was based on a multitude of factors including street widening construction requirements, extensive sidewalk and street reconstruction, the health of these trees and public safety.
In connection with the construction of the 1120 S. Grand project, the sidewalk along Grand avenue will be widened (to 24-feet in some areas) and will house new street lights, pedestrian lights and enhanced planting areas. This sidewalk will feed into a paseo that will host patio seating and an outdoor dining area facing a public park. Near the end of the construction of the project, Mack Urban will be planting 11 street trees to replace the nine that are to be removed. These 11 street trees will be placed along 12th Street and Grand Avenue in new, larger planters.
The overall intent of the sidewalk improvements and tree replacements is to enhance the urban tree canopy and to create a walkable streetscape that will be beneficial to all who live, work and visit South Park.
As always, please contact Burnham’s project hotline (213-304-4928) or use the below link, with any questions or concerns about the tree removals, public improvements or construction comments.
Thank you very much.
