Elevator #2 Repair Work /Shut Down, Thursday 3/2/2017
Today Thursday 3/2/2017
Elevator #2 has been taken off line as of this morning at 7:30 am. We apologize for this last minute notice. As many may know the middle elevator (elevator #2) has been making a high pitch noise the last couple weeks. We have been trying to schedule OTIS to come out and make the needed repairs. Today they had a cancellation of a job and have sent two repair technicians to work on elevator #2.
The work may take 1 1/2 days to complete. Please plan accordingly as elevator service can be slow during the busy times of usage.
Thank you and again we apologize for the last minute notice.

Monday February 27, 2017, Early Morning Fire Alarm
Monday February 27, 2017, Early Morning Fire Alarm
Good morning,
Some residents may or may not have heard a fire alarm that occurred yesterday morning.
We would like to inform everyone on the specifics concerning the fire alarm that occurred on the 9th floor early yesterday morning Monday, February 27, 2017.
After consulting with the buildings fire alarm installer and service company specialist, it was determined that the alarm was caused by the power surge the building experienced at 5:40am Monday 2/27/2017. The surge caused the fire alarm to sound and then shut off by itself. The alarm did notify our fire alarm monitoring company who at that time dispatched the fire department. The security personnel who was on site at this time also responded to the 9th floor as well to investigate the alarm, no fire or smoke was detected. Once the fire department arrived they also determined there was no danger and the building was clear.
Due to the sensitivity of the fire / life safety system this type of alarm can happen during power surges. LADWP has experienced many power surges in the past year and has had numerous power surges in the approximately 10 years that LUMA has been open. This is the first time that a power surge has caused the fire alarm to react with an actual alarm at LUMA.
During the power surge the elevators were also automatically called down to the 1st floor just as they would for any fire alarm that occurs. Once the alarm cleared, the elevators reset and began to function normally.
The power surge was not related to a problem within the building. These surges come from LADWP.
We hope this information is helpful.
Sixth Street Park Survey
Dear Luma Residents,
Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilmember José Huizar and City Engineer Gary Lee Moore invite you to share your ideas on the new Sixth Street PARC by filling out this online survey and telling us what you would like to see and do in the new park.
The Sixth Street PARC, a project of the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering, will be a 12-acre park underneath the new Sixth Street Viaduct on both the Boyle Heights and Arts District sides of the Los Angeles River. Construction of the park will be coordinated with viaduct construction, which is expected to be completed at the end of 2020.
Please share your ideas! And feel free to share the survey with others! The deadline for submitting your survey is March 14, 2017.
For more information about upcoming community meetings and other information about the Sixth Street PARC and the Sixth Street Viaduct, please visit our website: http://www.sixthstreetviaduct.org
Thank you for supporting this exciting new project!
