Cigarette Butts on Patios

Posted By on August 31, 2017

Dear Residents,

There have been reports that cigarette butts and ashes are being found on residents’ patios on 4th floor. This could be the result of someone dropping them from above, or from someone leaving a full ashtray on their balcony or next to an open window allowing the wind to pick up the contents and deposit elsewhere.

Management wishes to remind all residents that throwing and/or dropping ANYTHING from windows and/or balconies is strictly prohibited and a serious violation of the Association’s Rules and Regulations. It also poses a serious threat to individuals, animals and property below. We ask that all residents take precautions to prevent deliberate and/or accidental discharges of objects from windows and/or balconies. The HOA will prosecute any violation of this to the full extent of the law.

Lightweight items such as ashtray contents, empty cans and beer bottles, drinking glasses, articles of clothing etc. can be picked up by the wind and end up on the ground or on someone else’s terrace or balcony or worse, could hit someone or damage their property. The wind is ever present here and you are responsible and liable for items you leave in its path.

Thank you in advance for your time and cooperation
