Parking Space Reminder for All Residents
We’d like to remind all residents of the importance of maintaining a safe, secure, and clean parking environment. Please take a moment to review and follow the guidelines below to help keep our garage areas safe and compliant with community standards:
Keep Your Parking Space Clear
Storing personal items—such as boxes, furniture, bicycles, or household goods—in your parking space is not permitted under Luma’s governing documents. These items not only present a safety and fire hazard, but also obstruct cleaning and routine maintenance. Please remove any stored items to avoid citations and to help us maintain a tidy and hazard-free garage.
Lock Your Vehicle
Always ensure your vehicle is locked, even if you are stepping away for just a few minutes. Crimes of opportunity can happen quickly, and an unlocked car makes an easy target. Taking a moment to double-check your locks significantly reduces the risk of theft or tampering.
Remove Valuables
Do not leave valuables—such as electronics, bags, loose change, or even clothing—visible inside your vehicle. Even seemingly minor items can attract unwanted attention and increase the risk of break-ins. This applies whether you are parked in the garage or on the street; a clean, empty interior is one of the best deterrents.
Report Suspicious Activity
If you observe any suspicious behavior in the garage or near any of the garage gates, please report it immediately to the front desk or building staff. Your vigilance helps us keep the community secure and supports the safety of all residents.
Your cooperation makes a big difference in preserving the quality of life here at Luma. Thank you for doing your part!
Recycling & Waste Disposal Guidelines
Let’s work together to keep Luma—and our city—clean, sustainable, and pest-free.
Proper disposal of waste and recycling is essential to maintaining a healthy living environment, complying with local regulations, and supporting Luma’s commitment to sustainability. Please take a moment to review and follow the guidelines below:
Recycling (Blue Bins – Located in the Recycling Room, 1st Floor Garage Across from the Elevator Lobby)
To ensure the recycling area remains clean, functional, and accessible:
· Break down all cardboard boxes before placing them in the bin. This maximizes space and improves pickup efficiency.
· Keep materials below the fill line to avoid overflow and maintain easy access for others.
Accepted recyclable items include:
· Clean, empty bottles (plastic and glass)
· Cans (aluminum and tin)
· Plain, uncoated paper (no lamination or glossy finishes)
· Flattened, clean cardboard
Tip: When in doubt, check for the recycling symbol with a number on the bottom of the container. Rinse items to remove food or liquid residue. Contaminated materials can spoil an entire batch of recyclables.
Trash (Trash Chutes – Located on Each Floor)
Trash chutes are designed for general household waste only. Please do not dispose of the following items in the chute:
· Bulky items (e.g., furniture, mattresses)
· E-waste (e.g., electronics, batteries)
· Recyclables (see above)
· Hazardous waste (e.g., paint, cleaners)
· Compostable materials (see below)
To schedule bulky item pickup, please contact the front desk. Improper disposal in or near the chutes is a violation of city sanitation codes and poses safety and pest-control issues.
Compost (Green Bin – Located in the Recycling Room)
Luma proudly participates in LA’s organics recycling program. Compostable materials should be placed in the green bin using certified compostable bags (available online or at local grocery stores). This helps reduce landfill waste and limits pests in the garage.
Acceptable compost materials include:
· Fruit and vegetable scraps
· Bread, pasta, rice, and grains
· Coffee grounds and tea bags (remove staples)
· Eggshells
· Soiled napkins and paper towels
· Certified compostable paper products
· Yard trimmings (leaves, small branches, etc.)
Reminder: No plastic, metal, glass, or liquids should go into the green bin—even if labeled “biodegradable.”
Go Beyond the Bin
Looking to recycle items not accepted in our building bins, such as textiles, batteries, light bulbs, or hard-to-recycle plastics?
Visit: Ridwell – What We Take
This service offers an easy way to recycle a wider variety of items responsibly.
Thank You for Doing Your Part!
By following these guidelines, you help create a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable community for everyone at Luma. If you have any questions or need clarification about disposal procedures, please reach out to the management office.
