Should it go down the drain or in the trash?

Posted By on September 5, 2018

Dear Residents,

Living in a high rise is a little like living in one big home. If someone flushes something down a toilet or washes something down a sink and causes a clog, chances are you are affecting someone else in the building, you neighbor. This is a reminder of things that shouldn’t be flushed or washed down the drain. If you are not sure if something is safe to go down the drains, please err on the side of caution and put it in the trashcan.

Some of the most common items we’ve seen down the drains and flushed that shouldn’t be are;
Hair, hair traps should be installed in the showers/tub drains
(See the Home Depot website search: ‘Shower Drain Hair Catch’)
Wipes, of all kinds, even those that claim they can be flushed
Dental Floss, this can catch a lot of gunk which easily creates clogs,
Feminine Hygiene products
Paper towels
Harsh chemicals like bleach or drain cleaners. They can damage blades and pipes.

Thank you for taking your valuable time to read this important reminder.
