South Park Business Improvement District Renewal
Posted By flanglois on March 23, 2017
Dear Homeowner,
Since 2005, the South Park Business Improvement District (BID) has
provided clean and safe services, supported local businesses, connected
residents to each other and the city, and encouraged the ongoing
development of this vibrant neighborhood through our events and
programming. Our 52-block region includes the STAPLES Center, Los
Angeles Convention Center, L.A. Live, and stretches past Broadway on the
eastern border.
Every five years, South Park BID goes through the renewal process. Renewal
gives property owners in the district the opportunity to vote on whether
they want to continue to fund the services the BID provides for another five
years. This time around is a bit different, as we’ll be merging the Greater
South Park BID (the 110 to Margo St and the 10 to 9th St/Olympic Blvd)
with the South Park II BID (Margo St to Broadway).
Renewal happens in two phases. First, in a petition phase starting mid-May,
you will be asked whether or not you would like the opportunity to vote on
renewal. Then, depending on the results, BID renewal will go to ballot. Only
people listed on the property title are eligible to sign petitions and ballots.
If you have enjoyed and benefited from the BID’s clean and safe services
and community events programming, we ask that you support our renewal.
As this process unfolds, we’ll be communicating key dates through mail
and normal media outlets, hosting petition signing events, tabling in
lobbies, and holding open “office hours” at the BID office. Please stay tuned
for updates, and contact me with any questions at ellen@southpark.la or
(213) 663-1112.
Sincerely,
Ellen Riotto
Interim Executive Director
